Aboveground storage tank licensees should take note of the latest Technical Bulletin that was sent out Friday, July 15th. The email included a link to the updated R912.
The document included the following updates:
- Updated test pressures to better reflect the changes made in UL 142 10th edition, rectangular tanks should be tested at a minimum of 1 ½ psig and not be pressurized further if shell deformation is noted.
- Added a section on pressure testing multi compartment double wall tanks.
- Added a separate section on vacuum testing and included information on testing protected tanks.
The additional detail should help installers comply with requirements used by Authorities Having Jurisdiction as R912 is often incorporated by reference into code and regulations.
