PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
STI/SPFA Pipe section members know that shops fabricating steel pipe need corrosion and chemical resistant “soil side” coatings that can accommodate cathodic protection systems, varying soil types, freeze-thaw cycles, impact, and abrasion. Coatings intended to protect steel pipelines must be applied at high film thickness in one coat, cure quickly, and protect without interruption for decades. In addition, these coatings need to be easy to apply to girth welds in the field under challenging temperature and weather conditions. And, for that, they need to be available in remote locations and near the pipeline installation site.
An impossible dream? No longer.
There is now a global coatings supplier that has formulated a pipeline coating able to provide all of the performance characteristics listed above allowing pipelines to function as expected throughout their design life. This coating can be used to touch-up and repair fusion bonded epoxy coatings (FBE) already on some existing pipelines. In addition, it has adhesion values exceeding 3000 psi on both steel and FBE per ASTM D4541. And, rather than dragging drums and 5-gallon pails around, this coating comes in a unique, first of its kind for the steel pipe industry, 1 litre plastic Burst Pouch.® The Burst Pouch can be hand-kneaded to mix component A and B prior to being squeezed into place and brushed onto areas damaged in transport, for example. A tremendous benefit to those responsible for making small repairs on large pipeline projects. Because of the network of company-owned stores, Burst Pouches can be stocked close to jobsites. This product is also tested and certified in accordance with CSA-Z245.30 for use in Canada.
A new product for STI/SPFA Pipe Section members from the world’s leading coatings and lining company: Pipeclad® 5000.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Category:
Protective Steel Coatings
Type of Product:
Zinc-Rich Primer for use on exterior tanks.
Description:
Zinc-rich primer engineered for maximum cathodic protection and finishing productivity. It’s unique urethane binder formulation is designed to be used with up to 4 different activators to adjust cure schedules, ensuring a pristine/slick finish regardless of the environment or equipment. Its 2-component system is far easier to use than standard zinc-rich primers, requiring relatively minimal agitation during mixing and application.
Corrosion Protection:
Applied directly to blasted steel, the material incorporates the most finely ground zinc available to build a uniform film that consists of 86% zinc. It easily passes a salt-spray test (ASTM B-117) with very minimal creep at 9600 hours and is suitable for ISO 12944-2 applications up to and including C5.
Smooth Finish:
Unlike other zinc-rich primers that often dry spray or leave a rough texture, it dries completely smooth (automotive-like) in as little as 30-minutes. This helps speed up the painting process by not requiring sanding or an additional epoxy intermediate coat prior to top-coat. Recommended application is 4-mils DFT. It is completely resistant to mud-cracking.
Custom Cure Schedules:
The material is engineered to work with up to 4-different activators, offering the painter a range of cure schedules (30 minutes to 12 hours) depending on the needs of their project. It provides finishers with complete control of their process by giving them the ability to modify the coating onsite to deal with sudden equipment modifications, tank size variations, and climate changes without sacrificing finish quality.
It is an ideal protective choice for highly corrosive applications and has been successfully proven in many types of applications including but not limited to:
• Commercial Transportation
• Fleet Truck & Trailer
• Exterior Tank Surfaces
• Heavy Equipment Attachments
• Farm Implements
• Offshore Oil & Gas
Every time this primer coating is implemented, it saves the painting operation considerable time and money while improving long-term corrosion protection. Painters like working with it far better than other zinc-rich primers due to its ease of use, fast dry time and slick finish. Managers find significant value in working with it due its ability to reduce bottlenecks caused by longer dry times, re-works and additional prep required prior to top-coating.
Our company provides STI members full onsite demos free of charge with or without the use of our own spray equipment. Our company also provides full equipment and booth engineering recommendations at no expense to the customer.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
This is an NSF Std. 61 Certified two-component ceramic modified polyamide cured epoxy primer providing very fast dry times and excellent resistance to corrosive and abrasive environments. This shop/field primer was developed to offer a safer and more robust alternative to zinc rich primers. It has the following characteristics that make it more desirable than the standard organic zinc rich primers in use today:
1. No zinc (a heavy metal that is becoming increasingly more problematic)
2. No Iso-cyanites (makes the workplace that much safer)
3. It is roughly half the cost of organic zinc rich primers
4. Weight/gallon: 13 pounds vs 26 pounds
5. The first thin-film ceramic epoxy ever created, bringing undercutting corrosion protection to a primer
6. Same application dft’s
7. Available in tan and white for color contrast between coats and improved hiding of primer during topcoat application
Zinc-rich primers have been successful in large part because of their user-friendly attributes which were, until now, not matched by epoxy products. This primer has the following characteristics that are roughly equivalent to the advantages offered by zinc rich primers:
1. Fast dry time:
a. To Touch – 60 minutes @ 75°F
b. To handle – 5 hours @ 75°F
c. To recoat – 45 minutes @ 75°F
d. To Stack – 7 hours @ 65°F
2. Maximum recoat window – 1 year
The product is offered at half the cost of zinc rich primers. This product improves corrosion mitigation, applicator safety, and maintains user friendly properties at a lower price to the end user keeping steel fabricator more competitive.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The 1618 mechanical tank gauge is designed to provide accurate, easy-to-view liquid level readings in aboveground vertical storage tanks up to 50 feet in height. The numeric display is viewable from as far as 30 feet from the gauge which provides an additional safety benefit by eliminating the need to enter the dike area for level readings. Liquid level readings are displayed in feet and inches. (Models displayed in meters and centimeters are also available).
The durable cast aluminum housing is vapor tight and fog free. Multiple mounting options (foot base or tank mount brackets) make this gauge a flexible option for various site needs. The 1618 mechanical gauge requires a simple 1-inch base pipe and installs through a 2-inch schedule 40 pipe or a 2 inch tank bung.
Service technicians appreciate the 1618 mechanical tank gauge due to its simple design with minimal moving components as well as the ease of installation and calibration. Tanks owners and installers benefit from the reduced installation costs.
