San Joaquin Pipeline Valve and Safe Entry Improvements

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is upgrading the Hetch Hetchy Pipeline system with various access locations for pipeline inspection. Some of the pipelines were installed in the early 1900’s and are still operating today due to diligent maintenance by the agency.

Fabricated 600+/- feet of 78″ ID 80.5″ OD Welded Steel pipe and fittings with cement mortar lining or NSF-61 Epoxy linings with Polyurethane coatings. The “Roll-out” pieces allow for safe access to inspect the existing San Joaquin Pipeline numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 for Maintenance since the pipeline crosses the California Central Valley and passes through many environmentally sensitive areas with limited access. The use of grooved couplings allows for the pipe section to be removed and replaced with limited outage times.
