Regional Integrated Loop System Phase 3B

This Phase 3B project extends an existing 48″ line in the northern portion of the county.  This line will allow Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority to supplement their current water allocation by utilizing their Carlton Water Treatment Plant to supply water to the northeastern portions of Sarasota County.

The scope of work included 4 miles of 48″ steel pipe with cement lining and polyurethane coating.  The installer was able to take advantage of 50 ft joints to help increase production rates.

Challenging ground conditions, sand in this area of Florida, were overcome with specialty compaction equipment to ensure the pipe/trench design was met.

A unique aspect to this project was the training and handing of the wildlife in the project right-of-way.  At one point the project incurred a delay due to an eagles nest that was located in the area.  Additionally, daily they had to contend with alligators, snakes and other protected species.
