Harmony in design and fabrication – A 20,300 gallon vertical, dual wall, vacuum monitored tank for us in a complex industrial facility.

This project, characterized by its time sensitivity and design challenges, exemplifies precision engineering and innovative problem-solving in the storage tank industry.

Replacing a fiberglass single-wall tank, the customer prioritized the durability of steel and the safety features inherent in a dual-wall, vacuum-monitored construction. Careful consideration was given to fitting locations, ensuring the optimal selection of shell material to minimize overlap on both primary and secondary side walls. This project was under tight time constraints, with a small installation window during a plant shutdown leaving a critical deliverable timeframe. The replacement tank had to be integrated into an existing operation, necessitating demanding planning and execution to ensure minimal disruption to plant operations.

To streamline the installation process, anchor locations from the previous tank had to remain unchanged, reducing installation time significantly. Tight nozzle tolerances were maintained to accommodate existing piping runs, requiring the tank to slide out and back in precisely to align with the existing infrastructure. The tank was seamlessly integrated into an existing building, utilizing a building cut-out that posed a unique challenge. Flashing mounts were strategically added to the tank, simplifying connections to the building, and facilitating a quick and effective sealing process with minimal effort.

A standout feature of this design is the inclusion of a stainless steel deflector plate, suspended 18 inches above the floor. Built in sections, these were fitted through tank access points and installed after internal lining. In addition to the deflector plate, internal components were chosen for their corrosion-resistant properties. A combination of stainless steel and PVC ensures the longevity and integrity of the tank, aligning with the owner’s vision for a long-lasting storage solution. This challenging project showcases the unique and effective solutions required to bring the project to completion on time and on budget.
