The Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association (STI/SPFA) announced its formal endorsement of the DIGNITY Act (H.R. 4393), bipartisan legislation introduced in the 119th Congress by Representatives María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) and Veronica Escobar (D-TX) that aims to modernize the nation’s immigration system while addressing critical workforce challenges.

The DIGNITY Act is a comprehensive immigration reform proposal focused on ending illegal immigration, restoring law and order, providing legal status for certain long-term undocumented immigrants, strengthening the American workforce, modernizing our legal immigration system, and helping pay down the national debt.

“STI/SPFA is proud to support the DIGNITY Act because it tackles one of the most pressing issues facing the steel fabrication industry today — workforce shortages,” said Randy Moore, Chairman of the STI/SPFA Legislative Advocacy Committee. “We believe this legislation will help ensure American companies have access to a stable, lawful workforce while advancing practical reforms that reflect our values and economic needs.”

Workforce Development and Industry Impact

STI/SPFA’s endorsement recognizes the DIGNITY Act’s role in strengthening workforce development and enhancing economic competitiveness. Employers across sectors continue to face persistent labor shortages that hinder growth, innovation, and long-term planning. By creating clearer legal pathways for workers to fill critical roles and incentivizing workforce training, the DIGNITY Act offers a foundation for sustained industry growth and resilience.

“As our industry evolves, so too must the policies that support its success,” added Moore. “Workforce development — including training, skills advancement, and lawful employment authorization — is vital to ensuring that employers can build, innovate, and compete both domestically and globally.”
