STI/SPFA is proud to announce the creation of the STI/SPFA Scholarship.
The STI/SPFA Scholarship, offered through the AWS Foundation, will be awarded annually to a student pursuing a career in welding, with preference given to those who wish to join the steel tank or steel pipe fabrication industry.
The U.S. manufacturing industry could require some 3.8 million jobs to be filled within the next decade, according to a study from the Manufacturing Institute.
In a recent survey regarding skilled labor needs, 93% of STI/SPFA members said they could hire at least one new employee to fill an open position.
“Promoting welding and the steel fabrication industry as a career choice to students is a key initiative of STI/SPFA,” said Sean Rezin, Executive Vice President of USEMCO, and Chairman of the STI/SPFA Emerging Leaders Committee. “We are excited to offer this new opportunity to help meet a need for STI/SPFA members.”
The first scholarship will be awarded in 2025.
