The STI/SPFA Board Member Spotlight highlights the leaders who help guide the association and support its mission. Each feature introduces a board member, their company, and their role in the industry while sharing their perspective on leadership, member involvement, and the value of serving STI/SPFA.
This month, we highlight Jason Mayer, Vice President of Sales – Manufactured Products at TrueNorth Steel.
STI/SPFA: Tell us about your company and your role in the organization.
Jason Mayer: TrueNorth Steel is a diversified steel manufacturing company serving infrastructure, energy, water, and transportation markets across North America. As VP of Sales – Manufactured Products, I lead sales strategy and customer engagement for Tank and Drainage product lines.
STI/SPFA: How did you first become involved with STI/SPFA?
Mayer: I became involved through our tank business and participation in industry meetings. STI/SPFA provided a valuable forum to learn from peers, stay connected to industry trends, and support efforts that benefit our customers and members.
STI/SPFA: Why did you want to serve on the STI/SPFA Board of Directors?
Mayer: I wanted the opportunity to help shape the future of our industry, contribute to the association’s strategic direction, and ensure member companies continue to receive value from their involvement.
STI/SPFA: What do you get out of serving on the board?
Mayer: Serving on the board provides perspective beyond my own organization. It gives me the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders, address common challenges, and help advance initiatives that strengthen the industry as a whole.
STI/SPFA: What do you see as one of the biggest opportunities for STI/SPFA members?
Mayer: One of the biggest opportunities is educating end users, regulators, and specifiers on the value, safety, and sustainability of steel products while continuing to expand market opportunities for members.
STI/SPFA: What would you say to a member who is considering getting more involved?
Mayer: Get involved. The relationships, industry knowledge, and opportunities to contribute are well worth the investment. The more you participate, the more value you and your company will gain from the association.
