Use of Division 2 Design Rules in Division 1 Construction

Many Section VIII, Division 1 design rules have remained unchanged for decades. While these rules are well-established and generally fit for purpose, they can be conservative. Newer technologies and updated rules have seen their way into Section VIII Division 2.

Is there an opportunity for users and manufacturers using Section VIII Division 1 to take advantage of the technology and recent design rule updates incorporated in Division 2?
