Dennis Dechant was inducted into the STI/SPFA Hall of Fame during the 2025 Annual Meeting held in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Dechant has a long history with the organization and currently serves as the pipe section consultant, representing STI/SPFA and its’ members interests on industry committees and projects.
Dechant began his career in the steel pipe industry in 1974. He has been an active member of STI/SPFA since 1979, contributing to the standard steel pipe specification, SPFA Certification program, and transitioning the audit program from oil and gas to the steel water pipe industry. He served on the Steel Plate Fabricators Association Board of Directors including President of SPFA. Dechant also served as Steel Pipe Committee Secretary from 1983-2014. He has been a member of the AWWA Steel Water Pipe Manufacturers Technical Advisory Committee (SWPMTAC) since 1979, including serving as Chairman from 1983-2014. Throughout his career he has championed steel pipe through white papers, workshops, and committee work. And continues to promote the use of steel in all sections in the industry.
