Raw Material Expansion

A large chemical plant reached out to us for assistance in adding 270,000 gallons of capacity which would quadruple their revenue for their specialty chemical product line.

We built (6) 45,000-gallon 316 stainless steel API 650 tanks which were 15′ OD X 34’10” straight side height.

These all had flat sloped bottoms and cone tops with carbon steel stiffeners painted for additional support. Each tank had (6) 48″ X 15′ -0″ dimple jacketed sections on the shell which totaled over 4,000 plug welds per tank.

Each tank also had (20) nozzles ranging from 1-24″ and PMI testing was included on all materials. All six tanks had a galvanized top perimeter handrail and a 7′ -6″ tall, caged ladder.

Transportation remained a focus throughout the project and route survey approvals took several months. When these did ship, police escorts, and bucket trucks were included on most of the route to Kankakee, IL.
