The LARUV Disinfection facility is used for bacteria removal of the water flowing to the Los Angeles area from the Los Angeles Reservoir. This facility treats the largest source of water for the Los Angeles Basin.
The water enters and exits the facility through 15 each, 48 inch diameter risers on each side and flows through the 15 Ultraviolet reactor units. There is one spare riser on each side for a future spare unit. In order to provide interchangeability for reliability, the identical spools were built to very close tolerances and the flanges were machined to match.
This project is part of a major water system upgrade in the Los Angeles basin area to provide a reliable and safe water supply for the foreseeable future.
