13,000 gallon dual wall, extreme weather DEF storage tank

This 13,000 gallon dual wall, integrally contained tank stands out as a testament to innovation and adaptability, specifically tailored for deployment in the challenging environment of one of the world’s largest oil fields. Situated in a remote setting where temperatures can plummet to an astonishing -60° F, the primary challenge was to construct a mobile, turnkey tank capable of enduring all weather conditions. The tank’s purpose was to facilitate DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) storage and dispensing in an environment notorious for its extreme climate.

The tank’s design was fully customized to meet the unique requirements of the client. It features custom electrical runs, and an integrated and heated component and pump room that houses a combination of customer and factory-supplied equipment. A removable platform was incorporated for easy clean-out, and access doors for both fill and discharge were strategically placed for convenience. Given the corrosive storage environment and harsh climate, the tank is internally epoxy lined and insulated to ensure long-term, optimal DEF storage conditions in extreme weather. Two immersion heaters are seamlessly integrated to maintain the DEF operating temperature, assuring the liquid can be pumped even in the most frigid conditions.

Addressing the need for mobility and quick deployment, the tank comes equipped with collapsible stairs, requiring minimal on-site setup. This feature enhances its adaptability, allowing it to be efficiently moved and positioned as needed. The tank’s piping system is located inside the tank walls and fabricated from stainless steel, adding a layer of weather-proofing, durability and corrosion resistance. Despite the complex design and challenging supply chain conditions, critical components were sourced from various vendors, demonstrating meticulous planning to ensure on-time delivery and project success.

This 13,000-gallon dual-wall tank is not merely a storage tank, but a comprehensive solution designed to meet the demands of a remote and harsh environment, as well as a difficult liquid to store and pump in extreme weather.
