The new vessels contained some complex internals, which the company fabricated and installed. This included dual sparger pipes wrapped with calendared mesh wire and spanned the full length of the vessel. Above the spargers are custom laser-fused Duplex beams, which hold a media bed support constructed from stainless steel grating and covered with more mesh wire, secured around the perimeter with custom angle and PTFE packing. Above this, a floating screen was provided that fastens together with tie-wire and stud-welded bolting. Other internals provided by the fabricator include (2) 24” diameter baffles, (2) thermowell supports, a vapor diffuser ring along the top perimeter of the vessel, and a retaining plate inside the manway.
Production impact tests were performed to meet the ASME Code. All internal welds & external finished pressure retaining welds were 100% liquid dye penetrant tested. Two spot radiographs were taken at each circ and long seam weld.
The interior received pickling and passivation, and the exterior was cleaned with a phosphoric acid-based solution. To achieve a uniform appearance, the exterior of the vessel was sandblasted before painting on the stenciled information along the outside.
