Contractor was responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction of these twin double-walled cryogenic tanks in Mexico. These identical double-walled tanks will be used for the storage of ethane and are approx. 150’ diameter x 127’ high, with dome roof with suspended insulated deck. Having over 6,500,000 lbs (3,250 tons) of steel, most of the inner and outer tank components consisted of 9% Nickel steel plate. A major accomplishment was the successful procurement and fabrication of the nickel plate in the face of all the supply chain disruptions and restrictions resulting from the Ukrainian war. Additionally, the terminal’s location encounters significant rainfall and wind events throughout multiple months of the year. At the owner’s request, the contractor was able to successfully accelerate the construction schedule by several months to meet owner’s needs.

From a Braskem Idesa press release:
Braskem Idesa (BI) and Advario announce the formalization of their partnership, of which Advario acquired 50% of the capital of Terminal Química Puerto México (TQPM). Advario will support Braskem in the construction and operation of a new ethane import terminal in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz with a total estimated investment of US$400 million for the project.

The new terminal will have an area of around 25 acres for ethane storage connected to the BI petrochemical complex through an ethane pipeline of approximately 10 kilometers; it will have a storage capacity of 100,000 m3 and will supply the ethane required by the BI plant to operate at full capacity. The project will also have a positive impact on the southern region of Veracruz through the generation of approximately 2,000 direct jobs, contracting suppliers, and the creation of a new logistics infrastructure for the area and state.
The formalization of this partnership is a clear example of Braskem and Advario’s commitment to focus on growth opportunities in the petrochemical sector, thus supporting the Mexican petrochemical and plastics industry.
