Tank 1125 Repair and Tank Bottom Replacement

This tank repair project was performed on a 108′-0 Diameter X 48′-0 H cone roof fire water storage tank located in Woodward, Oklahoma. An inspection report was included in the client’s request for quotation and the majority of the work was quoted on a lump sum basis. The only exception being the shell welding due to the unknown extent (depth) of the necessary weld repairs.

The scope of work for this project consisted of the engineering, fabrication and construction services to:

• Remove and replace the entire tank bottom with new plate
• Weld repair of the inside shell welds – 1700 liner feet of the horizontal girth seams and 500 linear feet vertical seams
• Repair and restoration of all bottom shell nozzles
• NDE including 100% volumetric examination of all new weld seems using radiographic testing
• Interior coating of the tank bottom and shell
• Overcoating of the exterior tank shell
• And supply and installation of a new door sheet

The tank repair project was completed on schedule with 100% radiography acceptance on the shell welds and with zero incidents.
