The tank contractor undertook an impressive infrastructure project for the City of Danville Department of Utilities with the construction of the Oak Hill Water Tank. Designed as a standpipe in accordance with AWWA D-100 standards, the tank boasts a diameter of 50 feet and rises to a height of 90 feet, with a full column height of 96 feet 10 7/16 inches. With a capacity of 1,307,000 gallons, this massive structure weighs approximately 302,242 pounds—equal to 151 tons—and features steel plates ranging in thickness from 0.25 to 0.559 inches.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the project was the roof installation. A 200-ton crane was employed to lift the roof, which had been constructed on the ground, into its final position atop the tank. The contractor also engineered a specialized ring wall foundation to ensure stability and longevity.
