This project involved the construction of a field-erected welded steel tank to support backwash storage at a municipal iron and manganese removal facility. The tank was designed in accordance with AWWA D100-11 and erected at grade with an internal press-brake formed knuckle roof. The press-brake roof provided increased plate stiffness and consistent geometry at the knuckle, resulting in a durable roof system with improved load transfer, efficient field erection, and an increased roof life span.

Standard appurtenances and safety features were incorporated, including interior and exterior ladders, roof guardrail and platform, shell manway, flush-type cleanout, screened roof vent, and an internal mixing system. Shell and roof nozzles were provided for process connections and level indication.

Comprehensive quality control and inspection procedures were implemented throughout construction to ensure compliance with AWWA requirements and site-specific design criteria. The completed tank provides a robust, low-maintenance storage asset that improves operational reliability and supports long-term facility performance.
