This tank proposed unique obstacles during both the design and erection process. The lower 5′ of this tank is buried beneath the surface requiring the need for heavy equipment ramps to be constructed so the crane had the access needed to erect the tank. The reservoir spans 108′ across and the construction site is surrounded with businesses as well as residents on all sides leaving only a narrow access road as an entry point. This particular tank has a halo support system which utilizes three columns to disperse the weight of the roof. The press-broke coned roof design calls for one side of each roof panel is bent or “broke” creating additional strength and effectively eliminating the need for the typical channel/beam rafter design. Additionally, this tank is equipped with a spiral staircase completed with a galvanized security enclosure and roof platform. This steel constructed reservoir provides the community with a landmark they can be proud of for many years to come.
