Eli Lilly is building a new cutting-edge manufacturing campus at a greenfield site in Lebanon, Indiana. This facility will be one of Lilly’s most advanced manufacturing sites, incorporating next-generation technologies to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and process performance. The Lebanon site will feature state-of-the-art data collection and analysis systems, ensuring continuous improvements and operational excellence.

Due to the sensitivity of groundwater contamination in a heavily agricultural area, the five (5) wastewater tanks are provided as a four (4) 316L Stainless Steel Tanks and one (1) 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Tank. The tanks all had a common size of 30’ in diameter by 24’ in shell height with a dome roof. Our company provided a roof platform that spanned virtually the entire roof.

To provide even more protection, the two (2) tanks that have the most corrosive contents were supplied as a double bottom tank. This was a change made almost at the time of construction, and we had to rely on our steel partners to provide additional 2205 material within one (1) week.

Again due to the process conditions of the wastewater tanks, the decision was made to provide further corrosion protection by painting the exterior of all of the tanks, including the 2205 Duplex Tank. Due to the elevated temperatures, this had to be a specialized two-component, glass-flake filled polymer.

After application and curing of the coating, the tanks were then insulation with a specialized 304 stainless steel sheathed closed cell insulation.
