Planning for this Composite Elevated Tank (CET) began in 2021–2022 to support the growing demands of Nelson County’s Industrial Park and the rapid expansion driven by the Bourbon Boom, which brought several new distilleries to Bardstown, KY—the Bourbon Capital of the World. Recognizing the urgency of increased water demand, the project was fast-tracked to ensure the City of Bardstown could maintain reliable service for both industrial growth and the surrounding community, including The Bardstown Bourbon Company distillery and bourbon-aging rickhouses, seen directly behind this new water tower.
Following award of the contract in July 2024, engineering efforts accelerated immediately, with design drawings progressing on an aggressive timeline. Foundation crews broke ground within one month of contract award, setting the pace for a highly coordinated and schedule-driven execution.
Our crews and subcontractors mobilized without delay, maintaining momentum from start to finish. Standing 182 feet to the high-water line and providing a storage volume of 1,500,000 gallons, the tank was completed in just 383 days from breaking ground to ready-to-fill, a significant achievement for a project of this scale and complexity.
This project exemplifies teamwork, efficiency, and commitment to delivering critical infrastructure that supports economic growth while meeting the evolving needs of the communities we serve.
