The Arcadia Lake Water Treatment Plant (ALWTP) Expansion is a major multi-phase program designed to increase the City of Edmond’s surface-water treatment capacity from 10–12 MGD to 30 MGD, while also enhancing overall water quality, system reliability, and long-term operational resilience. Key improvements include a new raw-water intake and low-lift pump station on Arcadia Lake, large-diameter raw-water transmission piping, granular activated carbon (GAC) filtration, two 4-million-gallon clearwells, equalization basins, a backwash and recycle system, extensive yard piping, and a new high-service pump station that delivers finished water into the Edmond distribution network. These upgrades significantly reduce the City’s reliance on groundwater wells and purchased water from Oklahoma City, positioning Edmond to meet future demand with a secure and sustainable water supply.
