eLCOSH
The Electronic Library of Construction Occupational Safety & Health (eLCOSH) is a well-known site that was developed to provide information about safety and health for the construction industry. But this site is also chaulked full of helpful tips and resources that can strengthen your COVID-19 Pandemic Preparedness Plan.
In eLCOSH’s own words:
The scientific community’s understanding of how the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spreads is evolving. This COVID-19 Clearinghouse was established as a central resource for construction employers and workers to find the latest research, guidance documents, training, and other resources to help prevent the spread of the disease as construction work continues in some markets and starts up in others. The information posted is accurate as of the date posted. Every effort will be made to include only the latest information, however, since the situation is evolving, please let us know if more timely information is available.
We think you will find the “Resource Categories” page helpful and for more specific tips and applications, check out the “Safety in Action” tab.
NanoSeptic® Continuously Self-Cleaning Surfaces
If you are looking for a product that will continuously clean your door handle surfaces, check out NanoSeptic® Surface. We first saw this product plastered on the light rail train in DFW International Airport. Place the self-cleaning coverings on door handles, elevator buttons, and other high-traffic surfaces to help continuously disinfect your facility’s touchpoints.
From Nanoseptic®:
How does the NanoSeptic® Surface work?
One of the components of the surface is a mineral nano-crystal which acts as a catalyst, charged by visible light. These nano-crystals create a continuous, powerful oxidation reaction. This oxidation reaction breaks down organic material into base components such as CO2. The surface also forms free radicals which act as an additional cleaning agent. What do you mean by “self-cleaning”?
The NanoSeptic® surface continuously oxidizes organic contaminants at the microscopic level. Large scale contaminants must still be removed to allow the surface to do its job. This is similar to disinfectants, which require surfaces to be cleaned before the disinfectant can be effective.
Microban® 24
Another product that has gained popularity with cleaning crews is Microban® 24 hours (EPA registration #4091-21-3573).
From Microban®:
Microban® 24 Sanitizing Spray kills 99.9% of bacteria and continues working throughout the day to provide long-lasting protection for surfaces in your home.* This 3-in-1 cleaner sanitizes for 24 hours* disinfects and eliminates odors. It is also approved to initially kill the virus that causes COVID-19**. It can be used on a variety of hard, non-food-contact surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches and stair railings. It can also be used on soft surfaces such as couches, backpacks and coats.***
Do Mircoban® 24 products kill the virus that causes COVID-19?
Yes, Microban® 24 Sanitizing Spray and Multi-Purpose Cleaner have been tested by a third-party lab, in accordance with the EPA testing guidelines, and were shown to initially kill SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID 19, in 60 seconds on hard non-porus surfaces. However, Microban® 24 has not been evaluated in testing to demonstrate 24 hour residual benefits against SARS-CoV-2.

Handwashing Stations
There are many versions of handwashing stations available on the market. Probably none are as portable and easy to set up as the Igloo® 5 Gallon Handwash Station. This affordable handwash station enables 40 touch-free handwashes, comes with a soap caddy, and a lockable lid.

Handwashing Station Freezing Solutions
To prevent freezing in colder climates, you could retrofit your handwashing stations to accept an external heater or a submersible heater like the K&H® Perfect Bucket Heater.
