Charlie Plumb | Paul Ross | Nathan Whatley

When Oklahoma’s “open carry” law went into effect last year, the issue of guns in the workplace was brought back to the forefront, with many Oklahoma businesses quickly adopting new weapons policies or revising existing ones. In light of recent mass shootings, though, more and more employers are carefully weighing their options to possibly allow weapons in their workplaces.

While the law specifically restricts guns in certain no-carry zones, it provides employers with significant latitude in crafting their own customized policies. And the options are numerous.

During this one-hour complimentary webinar, employment attorneys
Charlie Plumb, Paul Ross
and Nathan Whatley examine the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, review businesses’ practical concerns involving worker and customer safety, and discuss the pros and cons of banning (or allowing) weapons. Topics covered include:

  • Employer rights under Oklahoma law
  • Guns, no guns … or some guns?  Tailoring your policy to fit your business’ needs.
  • “Must haves” for a strong weapons policy
  • Risks and rewards: general liability and premises liability issues
  • A look at what other states are doing
