Jerry Krantz is the GM Commercial Sales and Northern Business Unit Team Lead for SSAB Americas.

Jerry has been in the steel business for close to 35 years. Starting with National Steel Service Center in 1985, he spent two years as a slitter helper and shipping clerk before joining IPSCO, now SSAB, in 1988.

He has held several different positions within IPSCO/SSAB beginning as a machine operator and working into QA Coordinator where I was responsible for implementing and ultimately getting CTL facilities registered to ISO-9000. From there, Jerry became a scheduler/supervisor for SSAB’s St Paul, Minn. location before moving onto project manager opening the CTL facilities in Toronto and Houston. Once those facilities were up and running, Jerry began his career in outside sales where he spent 10 years covering the upper Midwest states.

In 2008, Jerry was asked to become the operations manager for the St Paul, Minn. facility and spent the next 6.5 years in that position. In 2015, he was named GM of SSAB’s three cut to length facilities and took over commercial sales responsibilities for thirteen western states and three western provinces in Canada.

Jerry’s current roll is GM Commercial Sales and Northern Business Unit Team Lead which includes sales in the central region of the United States, as well as P&L responsibilities for SSAB’s plate mill in eastern Iowa.

Jerry has held board positions with Metal Service Center Institute’s Northwest Chapter and is currently on the Iowa Association of Business & Industry board of directors.
