Comment Submission Period Open for SP001 & SP031

The Steel Tank Institute SP001 Standard for the Inspection of Aboveground Storage Tanks was first published in 2001 and has been revised six times. The STI SP031 standard for the Repair of Shop Fabricated Aboveground Tanks for Storage of Flammable and Combustible Liquids was first published in 2003 and it has been revised five times. The SP001 standard provides inspection and evaluation criteria required to determine the suitability for continued service of aboveground storage tanks. SP031 is a standard that covers repairs and modification of atmospheric type shop fabricated carbon and stainless steel tanks storing flammable and combustible liquids.

Both SP001 and SP031 were last updated in 2018. STI is committed to reviewing and updating the standard every five years. To facilitate this process STI is soliciting comments about the current standards. Anyone interested in submitting a comment or suggestion can do so via the STI website. The window to submit comments will be available for 45 days.
